My initial cat design was a machine embroidery piece inspired by Josh Melbourne. To develop my colour board into an embroidery sample I took this as an opportunity to develop my cat drawing. The drawing features a symbol which I created myself with a cat gazing at a flame. I used white with different shades of purple and green to create a back stitch sample. To create the outline of the cat I used smaller stitches but for the symbol I used longer stitches which I felt create a more fluent line. I like the embroidery on black material and I'm considering using black cotton for one of my collars to create embroidery using these colours.
